Toymaker
David Baillie Singer/Guitarist/Songwriter
David is responsible for a great deal of the arranging that goes on in Toymaker's songs.Though a natural in this department from the earliest days of Toymaker's beginnings, David feels that he benefitted greatly from the first break-up the band experienced in 1984. Armed with his first ministudio and drum machine he gained experience developing ideas from beginning to end, supplying all of the instruments and vocals.
David is the most accomplished musician in the band, which is evidenced by his presence on virtually all of the instrumental tracks and a majority of the vocal tracks.
Armed with a Les Paul and Stratocaster, David tends not to a be overly concerned with practising. Generally he opts for songwriting if he finds himself with a guitar in his hands, otherwise he couldn't be bothered. This he attributes to a low tolerance to bordem and prefers doing new things that present a challenge, then coming back to the music as a way of grounding to something more familiar.
David's long-standing songwriting affiliation with Scott can be traced to his admiration of the latter's prolific songwriting drive. Not to mention the unique and groovy hybrid that seems to evolve when the start melding their ideas together.
